Service Irrigation Technician

The Landscape Construction Foreman is responsible for leading a landscape construction crew of up to 8 members to implement landscape projects throughout Northern Colorado. This foreman will be responsible for keeping accurate records, promoting job worksite safety, providing excellent customer service, and exhibiting pride and quality workmanship on a daily basis.

Details of the Position

Location: Northern Colorado Area

Position: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position

Reports To: President

Relevant Work Experience: 4 years minimum residential and commercial Landscape Industry experience with a background in horticulture. Three years experience in irrigation work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with President, Operations/Office Manager, and Landscape Designer.

  • Always represent the company’s best interest, and maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism.

  • Proficiently and safely use power and manually operated tools and equipment to perform irrigation installation and maintenance.

  • Monitor and test old and new irrigation installations, troubleshoot and repair problems, observe pipe and valve placements, and evaluate start-ups, winterization, and overall operation of the irrigation system.

  • Water feature troubleshooting, cleaning, maintenance, and repair.

  • Low voltage lighting system maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.

  • Perform minor hardscape installations and repair, and periodic property maintenance.

  • Conduct and record detailed inspections and plan/execute upgrades as necessary for client irrigation systems.

  • Maintain and care for company equipment, tools, and vehicles.

  • Maintain a clean job site, orderly and stocked equipment trailer.

  • Forecast equipment, labor, and material needs to ensure efficient production.

  • Understand and meet production and maintenance schedule deadlines without sacrificing great customer service or excellent quality.

  • Track materials and time on service work orders and submit daily according to current processes and procedures.

  • Attend training classes and seminars as requested by executive management.

Requirements for Consideration

  • Four years minimum residential and commercial Landscape Industry experience with a background in horticulture.

  • Three years experience in irrigation work.

  • Irrigation Technician Certification required.

  • Strong customer service background.

  • Experience with estimating and job costing experience.

  • Essential knowledge and recent prior experience with trenchers, multi-meters, wire locators, ditchers, and pipe sizing.

  • Previous experience with testing of backflow systems is required.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with clean DMVR and current auto insurance coverage.

  • Must be self-motivated, possess strong leadership skills, and be professional in appearance and actions.

  • Must be detail-oriented, possess critical thinking skills, and be quality results-driven.

  • Must be well organized with strong communication skills and ability to multitask.

  • Strong project management experience organizing and managing all maintenance schedules.

  • Must have the ability to be proactive, plan ahead, and problem-solve to minimize disruption, errors, risks and keep maintenance schedules on-task, within budget, and on time.

  • Absolute essential ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Must take ownership of work and own the responsibilities of making sure things are done accurately and to the complete satisfaction of the customer. Ensure tasks are completed according to the contracted terms and if not, take ownership and actions to ensure these are corrected in a timely manner.

  • Must have a strong understanding and experience reading and interpreting landscape and irrigation plan specifications, technical procedures, and processes and in accordance with county and city governmental regulations.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work under pressure, adaptable to changing priorities and without supervision.

  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and possibly, although rarely, holidays should the workload warrant.
